Dewey is a census-designated place (CDP) located in the central part of Arizona, United States. It is part of Yavapai County and is situated approximately 85 miles north of the state capital of Phoenix. Dewey is situated at an elevation of 4,260 feet and has a population of around 4,000 people as of the latest census.
The town of Dewey was established in the late 1800s as a mining community, and later became a stop on the Santa Fe, Prescott, and Phoenix Railroad. Today, it is primarily a rural residential area with a mix of small businesses and large-scale manufacturing operations. Outdoor recreational opportunities abound in Dewey, including hiking, camping, and fishing in the nearby Prescott National Forest.
There are several schools in Dewey, including Bradshaw Mountain Middle School, Bradshaw Mountain High School, and Humboldt Elementary School. The Yavapai Regional Medical Center is located in nearby Prescott, providing medical care to residents of Dewey and surrounding communities.
